EDF Pulse Africa Tour 2023 - West Africa stage: Data354 wins first prize
Data354, a startup from Ivory Coast, won first place and will represent West Africa at the grand finale of the EDF Pulse Africa competition. The award ceremony was held on Thursday, November 09, 2023 at Sofitel Ivoire in Abidjan during the West African Stage of EDF Pulse Africa Tour 2023. The event was held under the patronage of Mr. Mamadou Touré, Minister of Youth Promotion, Professional Integration and Civic Service.

A new step in the construction of the Biovea biomass plant!

EDF, within the Biovea Energy Consortium, officially launched on July 20, 2023, the construction of the first biomass plant in Ivory Coast, in the presence of the Minister of Energy. The foundation stone laying ceremony brought together all the stakeholders of the project: institutions, industrialists, financiers, builders but also the local communities and in particular the planters in the area.

International Women's Day

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the EDF Group’s West Africa Management organized a lunch conference which brought together EDF West Africa’s women and 17 young girls who are members of the NGO DYNEX AFRICA (Dynamiques Excellentes Africa) and students at the Lycée Moderne d’Abobo whose ages vary between 11 and 15 years old.
EDF, Meridiam and SIFCA sign with Proparco and EAIF the financing agreements for the largest biomass plant in West Africa

EDF, Meridiam and the agro-industrial group SIFCA, united in the BIOVEA Energie* project company, have signed with Proparco (AFD Group) and Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (PIDG Group) the financing agreements** for a 46 MW biomass power plant project in Côte d'Ivoire. Under the terms of the agreements, Proparco and EAIF are providing €165 million in debt and €13 million in grants, corresponding to 77% of the total project cost estimated at €232 million. The balance will be provided by the shareholders of Biovea Energie. Located in the town of Aboisso, 100 km east of Abidjan, Biovea will be the largest power plant in West Africa powered by agricultural waste and will meet the renewable electricity needs of the equivalent of 1.7 million people per year.
