On December 3, 2023, EDF West Africa in collaboration with Meridiam signed an agreement with the Togolese government to build the Sokodé photovoltaic power plant.
The agreement was signed in Dubai during COP28 with the presence of Togolese President, His Excellency Faure Gnassingbé, Mrs. Beatrice Buffon, Group Executive Director responsible for EDF's International Management, Mrs. Valérie Levkov, EDF Director for Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Mediterranean, and Mr. Mahamane Sow, EDF Director for West Africa.
This 25-year concession agreement involves the construction and operation of Togo's second solar photovoltaic power plant. The plant will be in Sokodé, central Togo and will generate 64 MWp of electricity. The plant will serve as an eco-friendly source of renewable energy for more than 700,000 people in the surrounding rural communities.
